What is Live Cashback Blackjack?

Live Cashback Blackjack is a live dealer game from Playtech. It is based on the traditional Vegas Blackjack rules but has a few exceptions. Have a read through our guide to learn more about this popular blackjack variant.

The Benefits of Playing Live Cashback Blackjack

One of the many appealing things about Live Cashback Blackjack is that players can enjoy a realistic casino-like experience whilst playing online. The game is fully compatible with mobile devices of all sizes.

To play Live Cashback Blackjack, players can enjoy a full casino-like experience as a professionally trained dealer hosts the action to an HD camera that streams in real-time to your device. This allows players to submerse themselves into the casino game whilst playing from the comfort of their smartphone or other devices.

Live Cashback Blackjack Rules

Live Cashback Blackjack is played with eight decks of cards. The aim of the game is to form a hand that is as close to 21 as possible, without going bust (exceeding 21).

In Live Cashback Blackjack, all numbered cards keep their face value. In addition, Jack, Queen and King are all worth 10 whilst Aces can be either 1 or 11, depending on the other cards in the hand. To form Blackjack, the strongest hand in the game, a hand must hold a 10-value card with an Ace.

To start a round, players must place their bets by using chips that are found to the left-hand-side of the screen. Once all bets are placed, the dealer begins the round by dealing two face-up cards to your position. Furthermore, the dealer also takes a face-up and face-down card as their own hand. At this point, if the dealer’s face-up card is an Ace, the player can place an ‘Insurance bet’. The insurance bet costs half of the player’s initial stake and pays 2:1 if the dealer has Blackjack. If not, the round continues as usual.

After receiving the two initial cards, the player can choose one of the following actions:

  • Hit – the player receives an additional card. There is no limit on how many cards the player can receive, but they must be wary of going bust.
  • Stand – the player chooses to keep their hand as it is.
  • Double – the player receives a single additional card and immediately stands. By choosing to Double, the player doubles their bet.
  • Split – the player has received a pair of cards and chooses to split them into two separate hands. In doing so, the player also doubles their bet.
  • Cashback – the player can receive a cashback for their hand. This forfeits the round but the player receives a payout, if they are not confident that their hand will defeat the dealer’s.

In Live Cashback Blackjack, the cashback can be claimed at any time. The rate of the cashback varies depending on the cards the player holds but does not take into consideration the dealer’s face-up card. The dealer will always hit on 16 or lower and stand on 17 or higher.

Whenever the player’s hand is stronger than the dealers, the player wins even money. If the dealer’s hand is stronger than the players, the stake is lost. If the player has Blackjack, the payout is 3:2.

Live Cashback Blackjack Side Bets

Essentially, Live Cashback Blackjack has a total of six side bets. Below, you will find all side bets included in the live blackjack variant.

Player/Dealer Pair

The Player and Dealer Pair side bets are two separate side bets that have the same rules. They pay out if the player or the dealer’s two initial cards (once revealed) are a pair. The payouts vary, depending on the type of pair that the position holds:

  • A Mixed Pair – this pays 6:1 if the two cards have the same value but different colours.
  • A Coloured Pair – this pays 12:1 if the two cards have the same value and colour but different suit.
  • A Perfect Pair – this pays 25:1 if both cards are identical.

21+3

The 21+3 side bet pays if the player’s two initial cards and dealer’s face-up card can form certain combinations. The payouts include:

  • Flush – this pays 5:1 if all three cards have the same suit
  • Straight – this pays 10:1 if all three cards sit in numerical order
  • Three of a Kind – this pays 30:1 if all three cards have the same value
  • Straight Flush – this pays 40:1 if all three cards are suited and in numerical order
  • Suited Three of a Kind – this pays 100:1 if all three cards are identical

Top3

The Top3 side bet is almost identical to 21+3, but harder to win as there are less combinations. Due to that, the payouts are also more rewarding:

  • Three of a Kind – this pays 90:1
  • Straight Flush – this pays 180:1
  • Suited Three of a Kind – this pays 270:1

Lucky Lucky

Much like 21+3 and Top3, the Lucky Lucky side bet is also won by forming combinations using the player’s two initial cards and the dealer’s revealed card. The combinations include:

  • Any combined sum of 19 or 20 pays 2:1
  • Any combined sum of 21 pays 3:1
  • Any suited sum of 21 pays 15:1
  • Having 6, 7, 8 pays 25:1
  • Having three 7s pays 50:1
  • Having a suited 6, 7, 8 pays 100:1
  • Having three suited 7s pays 200:1

Buster

The Buster side bet pays out if the dealer busts. However, the manner in which the dealer busts affect the payouts:

  • The dealer busts with 3 or 4 cards pays 2:1
  • The dealer busts with 5 cards pays 4:1
  • The dealer busts with 6 cards pays 18:1
  • The dealer busts with 7 cards pays 50:1
  • The dealer busts with 8 or more cards pays 250:1
  • The dealer busts with 7 cards and the player has Blackjack pays 800:1
  • The dealer busts with 8 or more cards and the player has Blackjack pays 2000:1
