CONMEBOL Copa America de Futsal Betting Guide

What is the CONMEBOL?

Confederação Sul-Americana de Futebol is one of FIFA's six continental confederations, and organises events for both football and futsal tournaments. The confederation was founded in 1906 and created the first South American football Championship in 1916. The member nations in the confederation are Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela.

In addition to the Copa America de Futsal, the confederation also organises the FIFA Futsal World Cup Qualifiers, the Copa America Femenina de Futsal, the Copa America de Beach Soccer, and numerous high profile footballing tournaments as well such as the Copa America, the CONMEBOL UEFA Cup of Champions, the Copa Libertadores, Copa Sudamericana, and many more.

Introduction to the FIFA CONMEBOL Futsal Championship

The Copa America de Futsal is a futsal tournament that is organised by FIFA and is contested by the member teams in the CONMEBOL football confederation. The competition was officially founded in 1992, although there was an unofficial tournament that was founded by AMF Futsal in 1965, but is now defunct. The FIFA Futsal tournament is a competition that is held once every two years, although this number has varied due to rescheduling, and a chosen nation member of the CONMEBOL hosts it.

The 10 CONMEBOL teams are split into two groups of 5, with all teams playing in a single leg robin round format against the other teams, and at the end of the group stage, the two winners and runners up of both groups proceed to the semi-finals. The third placed teams in both groups play each other in a fifth place playoff, the fourth placed teams in either group play each other for the seventh place playoff, and the two teams that finished at the bottom of the groups play each other for the ninth place playoff.

In the final knockout round, the winners of the groups face the runners up of the other group. The semi-finals and finals are played in a single leg, and if the game is tied at the end of regular time, then two 5 minute periods of extra time will be played, and if the teams are still tied then the fixture is decided by a penalty shootout.

Copa America de Futsal Bets

Outrights

Punters can place bets on which team they think will win the Copa America outright. These bets are different from the pregame bets as they can be placed at any time during the tournament and even before it has started.

Full Time Result

This is a three way bet that relates to the result of a single game. In a game between Brazil and Argentina, there will be an option to bet on Brazil to win, Argentina to win, or for the game to end in a draw.

Double Chance

Double chance offers bettors a similar three way bet to the full time result, only these cover multiple possible outcomes. For example, in Brazil vs Argentina, there will be an option to bet on Brazil to win or a draw, Argentina to win or a draw, or for Brazil to win or Argentina to win.

Tie No Bet

Bettors who want to bet on one of the teams to win but want some insurance in case the game ends in a tie, can use the tie no bet option. Here, there will be a bet on Brazil to win, and another bet on Argentina to win, and if the game ends in a draw, then the money placed on either of the bets is returned. The odds here are not as long as the full time result, but they are longer than the double chance odds.

Handicaps

Punters can use goal handicaps to lengthen the odds on one team or to increase the chance of winning when betting on another. If there is a game between two teams where one team is clearly favoured to win, for example Brazil against Ecuador, then a punter can give Brazil a handicap of -2.5 or -3.5 goals. This will significantly lengthen the odds and if Brazil can win by 3 or 4 goals then the bet wins. In the same game, if a bet is placed on Ecuador then handicaps of +2.5 or +3.5 goals may be given. This will shorten the odds of betting on them but the bet can still win if Ecuador lose the game, as long as they do not lose by 2 or 3 goals.

Total Goals

With total goals, punters can put money on how many goals will be scored by both teams in a game. If Brazil is playing Argentina and a punter wants to bet on the two teams to score many goals, they can pick from a betting line such as 4.5, and bet for the game to finish with over that number of goals.

There will be multiple betting lines available and these can vary from game to game, but for each line, there will be bets for the game to end with over that number of goals, or under that number of goals.

Game Props

In addition to all of these bets, there may be additional bets that relate to only one half of the game, bets on when a team may score, whether both teams will score, correct score bets and more.

Live Bets

For each game, there will be a selection of live bets that can be placed while the game is happening. These bets will be offered with live odds, and they come into their own when placing bets such as which team will score next, will a team score in the current half, will there be a penalty in the next few minutes, and so on.
