A Beginner’s Guide to Bellator Betting

Bellator MMA is the second most popular MMA organisation in the world after the UFC. It was created in America in 2008 and it is based in Santa Monica, California. The organisation takes its name from ‘bellator’, the Latin word for ‘warrior’. Not only do Bellator events take place around the world, but they are watched by millions of people in more than 160 countries.

There have been hundreds of Bellator events and it is home to a number of famous fighters including Brazilians such as Patricky Pitbull, Cris Cyborg, Juliana Velasquez, Marcelo Golm, Lyoto Machida, and many more.

The events follow the Association of Combative Sports Commissions Unified Rules of MMA. There are a total of ten divisions: Heavyweight, Light Heavyweight, Middleweight, Welterweight, Lightweight, Featherweight, Bantamweight, Women’s Featherweight, Women’s Flyweight, and Women’s Strawweight.

Betting on Bellator

Ahead of a Bellator event, you will find many different types of bets that you can take advantage of. The bets are all very easy to understand and you can combine them as you wish to develop a betting strategy that gives you the best possible chance of winning.

Ahead of placing bets, it is important to do as much research as possible. You should be looking at the fighters’ previous results, for any information about how their training has been going, their different styles, injuries, and so on. The more information you have, the better chance you will have of making a winning bet.

The exact bets available may vary slightly from fight to fight, but here we will explain some of the most common ones so that you can get started placing bets.

Fight Result

This is the most straightforward bet. You simply need to choose which one of the two fighters you think will win. For example, you could bet on Phil Davis to beat Julius Anglickas. It doesn’t matter how your chosen fighter wins, the only important thing is that they do win.

Fight to End in a Draw

Bellator fights hardly ever end in a draw, but it does happen sometimes, such as the first title fight in the Bellator Welterweight Grand Prix in 2019 between Rory MacDonald and Jon Fitch. As it is so rare, the odds are normally extremely large.

Total Rounds

This simply requires you to bet on how many rounds you think there will be in a fight. You are given a number, and you bet whether you think there will be more or less than that number of rounds. For example, if the number is 2.5, you can bet that there will be 2 or less rounds or 3 or more. Often, you will be able to choose from several different possibilities.

Fight to Go the Distance

This is a simple yes/no bet. You are simply betting on whether you think every round in a fight will be contested and the result then decided by the judges.

Winning Method

There are several ways of winning a Bellator fight: Decision (based upon points), Disqualification, Forfeit, Knockout, No Contest, Submission, and Technical Knockout. This is a bet on which method a fight will be won by.

Most often, the bet requires you to choose one method, e.g. knockout. However, sometimes you will see bets that give you the option of two or more methods, for example, fight to be won by decision or knockout. As these bets are a little easier to win, the odds are generally lower.

Winning Round

For this bet, you need to choose which fighter will win and what round they will win in. For example, John Salter to win in the second round. If you get it right, there is the chance of huge winnings.

Round and Method

If you are feeling confident about how a Bellator fight will end, then you can bet on the fighter, method of winning and the round it will happen in. For example, Johnny Eblen to win via submission in the second round.
